SGIA 2011
Posted: October 19, 2011 Filed under: DTG Discussion, Uncategorized Leave a comment »SGIA 2011 seems slightly slower than the show was in Las Vegas last year. The opening day’s traffic was moderate.
Kornit appears to be the most active booth at the show. Kornit is also printing more shirts during the course of the day today than all other companies combined. Kornits new Storm is the best new machine at the show. A newer version of the 931 model this machine actually run off the same platform as the Avalanche. Price $190,000.00
Brother has a new machine on display. In an interesting marketing twist they have the machine behind a roped off area and are requesting no photos or videos be taken. Nice touch! Price mid twenties? More on this later.
SGIA Is Coming
Posted: October 14, 2011 Filed under: DTG Discussion, DTG Equipment Leave a comment »We will be at SGIA in New Orleans next week taking in all of the sites, sounds and great food the city has to offer. But more importantly we will be there making sense out of the nonsense that seems to be all too common in the DTG sales pitch.
We will specifically be looking to see what DTG manufacturer prints the most shirts during the course of the show. Why? We feel that this is the best statement of confidence in ones equipment. If your gear isn’t running from 10:00am – 5:00pm, what are you hiding? The machines should be running non stop in a venue as big as SGIA. We will give you daily reports on what’s happening at SGIA.

DTG Printers Worst and Best Moments
Posted: October 2, 2011 Filed under: DTG Discussion Leave a comment »Consider sharing with us some of your most insane moments in the DTG business. Everyone has a horror story about the day from hell. We’d like to hear it. It seems as though we hear more about how great everything is in the DTG custom t-shirt world rather than the bad days, the days that make us want to quit, rip our hair out and demand that the guy who invented the thing be drawn and quartered!
Truth be told – I have had the same days in screen printing and in the custom embroidery business as well but I always comeback for more. I love the custom t-shirt business. We are interested in this being a top this post.
SGIA 2011 New Orleans – Get The Truth On DTG Equipment
Posted: October 2, 2011 Filed under: DTG Discussion, DTG Equipment Leave a comment »We will be reporting live from SGIA in New Orleans begining on October 19th thru October 21st. We will be reporting our first hand observation on what the truth is in the DTG sales pitch. SGIA shows are huge. This particular show allows you, the customer, to compare apples to apples like no other show does. You will be amazed at how much you can learn if you can attend this show. It is our intention to bring you an object view and to shed some light on the process of selecting DTG printing equipment. We know and you should know too, that not all DTG equipment is created equal. We will be reporting on which machines are actually running the most quality prints at SGIA.

let the buyer beware: the principle that the seller of a product cannot be held responsible for its quality unless it is guaranteed in a warranty.
What is your favorite shirt brand to print?
Posted: September 25, 2011 Filed under: DTG Discussion, Polls Leave a comment »As we know not all tee shirts will print the same on our DTG machine. With the overwhelming selection product on the market we often give our custom t-shirt customers more choices than they need. Sometimes we struggle technically to get the best product out to our customer for no other reason than the shirt is not a good canvas for DTG or direct-to-garment printing. What is your favorite brand of shirt to print.
DTG = More Customers
Posted: September 23, 2011 Filed under: DTG Discussion Leave a comment »Using DTG offers the custom t-shirt printer many advantages
over traditional methods of decorating. One of the most important advantages is
that DTG allows decorators to process small orders that were not viable or profitable
as screen printing orders. I have always believed that custom screen printing
orders of less than 24 pieces were not profitable due to all of the ancillary
processes required to complete the order thru delivery. Time, labor and tied up
presses slowed the wheels of progress during the production day.
When I first got involved in DTG, it was as if we opened a
new business. All of a sudden we had a completely new customer base that we
could not service before. Direct-To-Garment printing has opened up many new
avenues for business and increased the scope of decorating possibilities we can
all offer as apparel decorators.
What’s Happening In Your Biz
Posted: September 21, 2011 Filed under: DTG Discussion, Polls 1 Comment »Since 2008 the decorated apparel business has been like a roller coaster -up one month and down the next. This doesn’t apply to just printers and embroiderers. This down turn has affected every aspect of the industry from t-shirt wholesalers to ink suppliers. The equipment sales side of the industry has been getting beat up due to the lack of money banks are willing to risk on equipment loans.
Take our poll and give us some insight into whats happening with you!
